Psychedelic-Integration Therapy

Make sense of what doesn’t make sense

Who is a Good Fit for Psychedelic-Integration Therapy?

Have you had a psychedelic experience that you’re struggling to make sense of?

This can be:

– A positive, meaningful experience

– A scary experience that you don’t know what to do with

– An experience where you weren’t supported

– An experience that left you feeling traumatized

Integration therapy can help. This is psychotherapy that is informed by a deep understanding of psychedelic experiences.

How it Works

  1. Schedule a free consultation.
  2. Book an initial intake session to share more about yourself.
  3. Fill out some basic paperwork.
  4. If it seems like integration could help, we will schedule therapy sessions on a regular basis.

Why choose Cole Butler Therapy for Psychedelic-Integration Therapy?

I have more than 10 years of personal experience with psychedelics. In my time using psychedelics, I’ve had absolutely transformative experiences, as well as terrifying experiences. I’ve seen the same with others on psychedelics.

In addition to my personal experience, I also have a lot of professional experience with psychedelics, including:

– Advanced training in Psychedelic Medicine from the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (2022).
– Dosing Session Monitor Training for LSD sessions (2023).
– Psychedelic Neuroscience Training (2023).
– Clinical experience during my internship at Wholeness Center, including group supervision sessions for MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD clinical trials.

With the passing of the Natural Medicine Health Act in Colorado, psilocybin mushrooms became legal for personal use. A pathway is also being established to use psychedelics under the supervision of a licensed professional.

Through my personal and professional experiences with psychedelics, I’ve come to see both the darkness and the light. I’ve seen people label a psychedelic experience as ‘traumatizing’. I’ve heard numerous stories of healing, but also numerous stories of harm.

Personally, I’ve had two psychedelic experiences that absolutely changed my life for the better. In addition, I’ve had an experience that shocked me and took me a long time to understand and recover from. Now, I have set up my business to help you navigate these challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are Psychedelics?

Psychedelics are generally considered anything that affects the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor site. That generally includes Psilocybin-containing mushrooms (magic mushrooms), Lysergic-Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Dimethyltryptamine (DMT, or, in long-acting form, Ayahausca). Similar compounds can include MDMA.

What is Integration?

Integration is the process of making sense of a psychedelic experience, and turning your insights into action. This can look like realizing that you need to start providing yourself with self-love, and then figuring out what behaviors you can do to give yourself that self-love. It could also look like making sense of an experience where you thought you died, and teaching you how to live in light of that.

How do I know if I need Integration Therapy?

I believe that every psychedelic experience should have intentional integration. This doesn’t have to be therapy, though. It can look like journaling about your experience, sharing your experience with friends and family, creating art, making changes in your life, pursuing other treatment, or many other things. Integration therapy can help make your psychedelic experiences make sense, and/or translate them into real-world action.

I had a scary psychedelic experience, what can I do about it?

I recommend that you start by writing about your experience. This takes it out of your head and puts it into reality. I also recommend talking to a friend or a loved one that is open to hearing about this kind of experience. This can be a challenge in today’s world, but if you know someone that is open to hearing about ‘otherworldly’, or psychedelic, experiences, that can help a lot. You may also need to seek out professional help from myself or someone else. In some cases, your experience may warrant emergency medical attention. If that is the case, please visit your local emergency room. If you believe that you are in crisis, you can text or call 988 for help. For psychedelic crisis help, please call or text Fireside Project at 62-FIRESIDE.

How much does therapy cost?

I charge $125 per 50-minute therapy session.

Do you take insurance?

I am able to accept multiple insurance for therapy through a partnership with a company called Mindful Therapy Group, included Aetna, Cigna,  Central Colorado Area Medicaid, and United Healthcare. Please reach out to confirm your benefits.

If I don’t take your insurance, I can provide superbill. This is basically a receipt that you submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I have a guide for how to navigate this process.
